WHAT WE SEE: Featured Criminals are middle class white people, however, the audience is constantly reminded of the noble reasons they became criminals and is subconsciously goaded to cheer for their unlawful and devious behavior while their Black counterparts are ‘common crooks’.
• Total Black Characters: (1) Little is known about Gus Frings. He appears in approximately half of the episodes and runs a restaurant and a laundry which are covers for illegal drugs.
• Stereotypical Black Characters: (1) Gus Frings is a calculating criminal. He runs a stereotypical chicken restaurant and is deeply involved in criminal drug activities.
