SERIES SUMMARY: Bernie Mac is a world famous comedian living the good life in his Los Angeles home complete with beautiful wife, Wanda. When his sister, in Chicago, is sent to rehab for drug use and her three children: teenage Vanessa, asthmatic wheezing Jordan and sweet, innocent Bryana, are put into Bernie’s custody.

WHAT WE SEE: While this show’s storyline does feature some negative stereotypes (drug addicted mother, broken home, abandoned children) it is well rounded in showing addict in rehab, and loving, educated, and successful black couple one in entertainment the other in business and various approaches to child rearing. It also shows black children in typical home and social situations.

• Positive Black Messages The overall theme is family togetherness and love. By showing a variety of characters and balancing them, the show features a plethora of positive black messages for a wide range of life situations.
