Stupid gangbangers in Los Angeles

You don’t have to be a historian, an educator, a student, or even in school to know the history of black people in this country. That’s why I could never understand black gangs in America.  Only the dumbest black people on earth could, of their own free will, choose to be a gang member and kill another black man over a color.  There are two reasons to join a gang, one you’re just stupid, and the other you’re scared to be by yourself.  I’m not going let people rationalize and patronize by trying to offer the excuse that young kids gang bang because they have nothing constructive to do.  While program cuts do negatively affect communities, there is never an excusable reason to DECIDE to be a criminal.  Our great-grandparents did not have boys and girls clubs, Little League, Scouts, or even television.  But they never said, “Hey, Rufus, I’m bored.  I think I’m going to go kill Abraham and them from that other plantation on the hill for fun.  Let’s let them know us cotton-pickers run things in this county.  Those tobacco pickers ain’t got nothin’ on us cotton-pickers.” You’re laughing or thinking I’m crazy right now because that doesn’t even sound right.  So why was this gang mentality ever accepted, or even expected among Black people today?

Over the years I’ve seen supposedly grown men in their thirties who recruit and train kids to gang bang as if it is a marketable skill.  These children think and behave as though a grown man with no job wearing Chuck Taylors and Dickies is some kind of “hood hero”.  What type of shit is that????

In Los Angeles, a city whose greatest natural resources are beautiful women, breathtaking beaches, and perfect weather are so plentiful that they have their own industry (Hollywood), there were idiots who wake up thinking “Where can I do a drive by today?”

But the fact that gang violence occurs is not the greatest travesty.  The greatest travesty is that the media has portrayed gangs and gang violence the way they have:  as an explainable, acceptable, even expected way of life.  So much so that gang banging is viewed as a “culture”. When people see their culture dying out, they do everything in their power to put that mindset back into the minds of the future generations and revive that culture.  So although the gang mentality has died down a little in recent years, it is only a matter of time before that mentality and the violence associated with it are on the rise again.  If you teach people that those who look like them, and who have the same background as them, behave a certain way in order to show brotherhood, and prove that they belong and build community, it is perceived as a bad thing if that behavior doesn’t take place.  Tell young kids that gangs are a way that people achieve camaraderie, point out that there are fewer gang members and note that they lack personal affirmation and community solidarity, and you have a formula for gang violence.  What type of shit is that?

Memo to gang bangers:  Drive around your neighborhood and look at the damage you caused.   You didn’t build togetherness, and offer a system of support.  You didn’t instill family pride and self worth.  You didn’t build a heritage.  You didn’t even build neighborhood businesses that could sustain you and your heirs.  You sold drugs.  You created dependency.  You fed addictions.  You spread self loathing.  You took the soul of the community.  Before you came along, kids could play outside.  Before you came along, parents helped their children with homework and taught them how to ride bikes.  Before you came along old people could walk to the store.  Before you came along every damn house didn’t have bars on the windows and doors.  But you thought you were special because the news chose to feature you even though you were a minority, representing less than five percent of the community.  They chose to make your profile the description of the community, not because you had done something praiseworthy or because you could best “rep your hood”  because featuring you made negativity and stupidity urban reality.

But this article is not about stupid people.  This article is about the media’s portrayal of these idiots.  Now after all the damage you have done in the hood, now we have to see you on television shows about prison life that give idiots a voice.    I watch these shows to analyze them.  But I will never understand what kind of mind sits around, free as a bird, but takes time from their own life to watch a show that features the life philosophy of some dumb-ass that is confined to a five by five cement cell.  I will never understand what idiot chooses to be entertained by watching grown men waste their lives and talents being caged and corralled like animals.

The sad thing is the gang bangers, thought they were down for their set.  Did you pick up trash?  No, you spray painted walls with graffiti, ruin your own hood, but yet you want tell use you love the hood and were down for it.   I know street organizations originated based on protecting the community from criminals, and from crooked police officers. But then you turn into puppets, doing what the puppet master wanted done all along.  He wanted you to destroy your community and the property value.  Job well done. You did the man’s dirty work very well

It is no coincidence that when Crips and Bloods set up a peace treaty in ’92, all of a sudden hate gangs began popping up all over California.  A year later in a park in Los Angeles, the Hispanic prison gang associates called meetings with all Hispanic gangs to stop killing each other, and come together.  But they one-upped you guys, they decided to start killing black citizens.   That’s the scary side of this story that while you stupid Negroes killed each other and countless innocent bystanders over colors, the power structure, shabby police officers, did not intervene. In their minds let’s let them niggas kill each other, but as soon as you came together, now every other ethnic group in Los Angeles has a problem with black people.  But you’re too dumb to see the

big picture. No need to ask, what is the big picture? Drive around your hood and you see it every day.

Now,  on television shows like Lock-up, Locked down, Gangland,  muscular and tattooed illiterate drop-outs, sit in front of television cameras while surrounded by barbed wire, iron bars and Plexiglas and claim that they want to give back.  But gangbangers took souls and destroyed them.  Not only of those that they killed in direct violence, but they stole the souls of their families, and with the help of the media, they stole the souls of the young people thousands of miles away that are led to believe that the gang banging way of life is a legitimate culture and representative of African American normality and success.   And as you pretend to offer reparations in the form of educating and warning future generation of gangbangers, as if they are watching A & E or the History Channel,  I have to analyze these shows that don’t fully show the revolutionary origins of these organizations, but instead humanize the violence. A & E, FX, Discovery Channel, and MSNBC share the blame for giving you a forum to display your worst and blame it on the economy, the “man”, police brutality, absentee fathers, etc.  When it is quite obvious that sheer stupidity is the only reason for supposedly straight men to leave behind a race of beautiful women to fend for themselves, to go live the rest of their life into a compound filled with other men who haven’t seen women in years.

Gang bangers you are not soldiers, you’re not gangsters, you’re puppets and you’re responsible for two things:  urban decay and self segregation of the chronically stupid.  But so called educational channels would have us believe that this is a popular and acceptable subculture that should be viewed for entertainment purposes.   What type of shit is this?

    Interesting piece on gang members.

Let me start off by saying this, gang bangers, like drug dealers, aren’t stupid. They may not be smart “education” wise, but they’re smart. “Gangs” are very structured. At least they started out structured. The black community didn’t create gangs. They piggy backed off an already violent culture. I do not condone “gang banging” one bit. But if you speak about gangs, you must speak about why they are here, why and how they began.

There are many sociological and psychological reasons why gangs began, particularly in the black community. From a sociological standpoint, in earlier years when around the “Civil Rights” era, blacks were outcasts; they were being beaten, murdered, and robbed of justice this country was supposedly providing them. Instead of laying down and taking the abuse, small cliques were formed for protection. Then they began to be social clubs, mimicking their white counterparts. I know that you’re aware that “gangs” already existed outside the black community long before.

From a psychological standpoint, what do you think that did to the minds of the young men in the black community? First of all, this country has a hell of a why when it comes to putting “bad boys” on a pedestal. It happens so slick, you wouldn’t even think of it as uplifting or praising “thugs” (of course not the black ones). Bad boys equaled respect and respect equaled power. Blacks had neither power nor respect (still none today), which lead to a turn around in their minds on how to deal with things. Not only did the psychological affects of slavery still linger, but a new challenge occurred, being “free” with restrictions.

I won’t go on because I see how much I’ve written already. There’s more to discuss but this isn’t the time. I kind of stayed away from these types of topics for a long time because I’m still building on my knowledge. But I do, completely, understand your frustrations with “gangs”. I understand the reasoning for writing this article. But anger has never solved a problem. I’m not saying be soft with anything because this world doesn’t need to sugarcoat anything anymore. I’m just saying, there should be a different approach in how we deal with the things that are affecting our community. We spend more time in the community downgrading one another than trying to find a medium and working from there. We already know the damage and ignorance that’s going through the “hood”. There needs to be a sincere effort in trying to change that. I’ll end here.
